Not only is Wayne Forbes an assistant professor of biology at Slippery Rock University, he is also the University’s newest U.S. citizen.
The naturalization ceremony, hosted on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, came just a week before SRU launches its annual Internations Week, celebrating the university’s international diversity.
Forbes, who joined the SRU faculty in 2003, was among those interviewed at the ceremony by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Both he and his wife, Sarah Peart-Forbes, were naturalized.
“We’ve fallen in love with the United States,” Forbes told the newspaper. “We think it’s a great land.”
Both said educational opportunities brought them to the U.S., from Jamaica. Their three children were all born in the U.S.
