Online Rocket takes CMA/ACP honors

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Online Rocket, an electronic version of Slippery Rock University's weekly student newspaper, The Rocket, won the Best of Show award at the recent College Media Association/Associated College Press convention in New Orleans.

The online version, available at:, was judged the seventh best website in the country for colleges and universities with an enrollment of 2,500-10,000 students.

Among the 2,300 students and advisers attending the convention were SRU's Alex Mowrey, a communication major from Pittsburgh, Catie Clark, a communication major from Brookville, Karleigh Santry, a communication major from Lake City, and Mark Zeltner, SRU associate professor of communication and Rocket adviser.

CMA, created in 1954, helps student media professionals improve their media operations. The organization works with professional media organizations and education associations on the local, state, and national levels.

The organization calls itself "the preeminent source for education and support for professionals and students engaged in creating all forms of student-produced media on college and university campuses."
