ACCA honors SRU faculty member

Melissa Nard, assistant professor in the Student Counseling Center at Slippery Rock University, has been presented the Meritorious Service Award by the American College Counseling Association for "outstanding service to the ACCA."

Nard joined the SRU faculty and the association in 2009, accepting the title of membership chair a few months later.

The ACCA is made up of diverse mental health professionals from the fields of counseling, psychology and social work. The organization’s common theme is working within higher education settings.

As membership chair, Nard has maintained the master ACCA member list and is responsible for monthly correspondence to all members, including answering questions, directing members to appropriate resources and working with the association’s executive board on membership matters.

Nard’s award was presented at the ACCA’s October conference.
