SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University will offer a free screening of "Gasland Part II," an HBO documentary film about the anti-fracking movement in the U.S., at 2 p.m., Nov. 9, in the Smith Student Center Theater.
Josh Fox, a filmmaker who directed the documentary, will be in attendance.
Doug Shields, a former Pittsburgh city councilman who appears in the film, will lead a question and answer following the film.
Itzi Meztli, SRU assistant professor of English, organized the event along with Marcellus Outreach Butler.
"Fracking" is the hydraulic process enabling natural gas extraction from shale.
Fox directed the 2010, Oscar-nominated Gasland. Gasland Part II includes interviews and data pertinent to fracking.
