INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –Lucy Hannon, a Slippery Rock University physical education major from Galway, Ireland, and a standout on the women's soccer team was named to Honorable Mention All-America honors Thursday when the Daktronics Division II All-America team was announced.
The honor adds to a growing list of postseason accolades for the sophomore forward, who was also named to first team All-Conference and first team Daktronics All-Region honors, as well as being named the Most Valuable Player in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs.
Hannon was one of four SRU players to advance to the All-America ballot after earning first team All-Region honors and is one of just three players from the Atlantic Region to be honored on the All-America teams.
Hannon finished her sophomore year with 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points. She tallied two goals and handed out one assist in the PSAC Championship game to lead Slippery Rock to its third conference title in school history.
She still has the chance to add more honors this fall as she will be a candidate for All-Region and All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, which will announce those teams in the coming weeks.
The Rock finished the season with a 14-6-3 record, winning the league title and advancing to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring women's soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams.
