SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University students, faculty and staff will have the chance to obtain a free Evive Bottle, a refillable water bottle, as part of an Evive Station pilot program in sustainability being launched on campus both online and through a company representative campus visit Dec. 4.
Two Evive Stations, which clean the bottle with high pressure and sanitizers before refilling it with chilled, filtered water, will become operational at SRU with the start of spring classes. Water refills are free for those using the Evive Bottle, which regularly sells for $20. The kiosks will be installed during winter break and will be located near the SGA offices in the Smith Student Center and in the Aebersold Student Recreation Center.
Evive Station representatives will be available to answer questions from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 4, at the campus kiosk sites.
"As a thank you for piloting the Evive Station on our campus, the company will provide registered trial participants with a free bottle," said Paula Olivero, assistant vice president for student development. "Each trial participant has to create a simple profile on evivestation.com. A profile can also be created by signing in to evivestation.com, then using your facebook login."
Those who sign up now will receive their bottles when they return to campus Jan. 29.
Television screens at the water station kiosks will provide advertising commercials while the cleaning and filling take place. The company reports it takes about one minute for bottle cleaning; re-fills take about 30 seconds.
Similar programs will be available at West Virginia University and Carnegie Mellon University beginning in January.
