Two SRU volleyball standouts earn region AVCA honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. –Hannah McShea, a Slippery Rock University exercise science major from Marysville, Ohio, and a defensive specialist on the volleyball team, has been named to All-Region honors in the Atlantic Region by the American Volleyball

Coaches Association.

Sarah Cadwallader, a resort recreation/tourism major from York, was named to Honorable Mention All-Region honors.

McShea earns her first career postseason honor with the All-Region recognition. She is one of 14 student-athletes from the Atlantic Region to be named to the team.

McShea transitioned from outside hitter over her first three seasons to the libero position for her senior season. She led SRU with 537 digs for a 4.55 digs per set average. She also led the team with 52 service aces and posted a team-best .936 receiving percentage after receiving 845 serves. She added nine kills and 22 assists and finishes her career with 242 kills and a 1,017 digs.

Cadwallader, who was named to the All-PSAC team last week, is a repeat honoree from the AVCA after being named to the All-Region team last fall.

She led The Rock this fall with 279 kills for a 2.38 kill per set average. She added 28 assists, four aces, 46 digs and 57 total blocks. Cadwallader finishes her career with 673 kills and 144 total blocks.

McShea advances to the ballot for All-America consideration from the AVCA, while both McShea and Cadwallader will be considered for All-Region honors from Daktronics.
