SRU invites girls 5-12 to National Girls, Women in Sports Day
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Girl’s ages 5-12 are invited to learn about women’s sports, including field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, softball and tennis as part of Slippery Rock University’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
The 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 26, event will take place in the Aebersold Student Recreation Center.
Emily Hopkins, SRU head lacrosse coach, and her assistant Lindsay Rentel, are directing the program that will teach a variety of women’s sports.
The program offers a free lunch of pizza in Morrow Field House, followed by free admission to the 1 p.m. SRU women’s basketball game against Edinboro University and the 3 p.m. men’s basketball game against Edinboro. Participants may bring their own lunch.
Registration is limited to 80 participants and may be completed by calling Pearl Shaffer, assistant to the SRU athletic director, at 724.738.2768. On-site registrations will be accepted if spaces remain.
