SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Office of Campus Recreation is forming a new men’s competitive slow-pitch softball league for summer play at the University’s new McFarland Recreational Sports Complex.
An organization meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center. All interested teams must be represented. Fees and related issues will be discussed.
Greg Sferra, director of campus recreation, said games will be played on the facility’s two, lighted softball fields. The fields have 300-foot outfield fences.
He said plans call for both upper and lower division play in a season that will run May through August. Weekly doubleheaders on a 30-game schedule with league sanctioned umpires are planned.
“We are looking for well-organized, competitive, enjoyable play at all levels,” Sferra said.
The McFarland facility, located at the corner of Harmony and Branchton roads on the SRU campus, includes a concession stand and restrooms.
