SRU Communication Week offers student-made videos    


SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s communication department will celebrate “Communication Week” March 28-April 1 with the showing of student-created videos, fun and a gala with SRU alumni.

           The department’s third annual “Slickstone Video Festival” will be presented at 6 p.m., March 28, in the Eisenberg Classroom Building Auditorium. QuickTime format videos in seven categories may be submitted to Brett Barnett, associate professor of communication, by 4 p.m., March 21.

           The categories are: Commercial or public service announcement with a one-minute time limit; and music videos, news report, sci-fi/horror, comedy, sports and original footage, all with a four-minute time limit.

           Winners will be determined at the showing.

           A “Scavenger Hunt” begins at 12:30 p.m., March 29, and concludes at noon, April 1. A “Carnival” in the Eisenberg Classroom Building second floor hallway, runs 12:30-1:15 p.m., March 31. Lambda Pi Eta, the communication honorary; the Public Relations Society of America, student chapter, and Zeta Phi Eta, a professional communication fraternity, are organizing the event.

           The Communication Week Gala is at 6 p.m., April 1, in the University Club of North Hall, and will include presentation of a number of awards earned throughout the year.
