SRU DANCE CONCERT ‘VISUAL PROOF’ FEATURES WORKS OF ACCLAIMED CHOREOGRAPHERS

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s dance department’s annual winter concert titled “Visual Proof” will be staged at 8 p.m. Jan. 28-31 featuring works created by guest artist Helanius Wilkins, faculty and students featuring dance diversity ranging from jazz, tap and modern to contemporary ballet.

Tickets to the Miller Auditorium performance are $5 for the general public; $3 for students.

Wilkins, a Washington, D.C.,-based chorographer, created a modern dance for 14 SRU dance majors. Also featured will be a work by internationally known chorographer Anna Sokolow, a National Dance Museum Hall of Fame inductee. Her work, written in the 1970s, is titled “The Music of Charles Ives” and was recreated for SRU dancers by Ursual Payne, associate professor of dance.

A contemporary ballet work created by Nola Nolen Holland, assistant professor of dance, is slated for the performance. For additional details, call 724-738-2036.
