SRU DANCE CONCERT ‘VISUAL PROOF’
FEATURES WORKS OF ACCLAIMED CHOREOGRAPHERS
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s dance
department’s annual winter concert titled “Visual
Proof” will be staged at 8 p.m. Jan. 28-31 featuring works
created by guest artist Helanius Wilkins, faculty and students
featuring dance diversity ranging from jazz, tap and modern to
contemporary ballet.
Tickets
to the Miller Auditorium performance are $5 for the general public;
$3 for students.
Wilkins,
a Washington, D.C.,-based chorographer, created a modern dance for
14 SRU dance majors. Also featured will be a work by
internationally known chorographer Anna Sokolow, a National Dance
Museum Hall of Fame inductee. Her work, written in the 1970s, is
titled “The Music of Charles Ives” and was recreated
for SRU dancers by Ursual Payne, associate professor of
dance.
A
contemporary ballet work created by Nola Nolen Holland, assistant
professor of dance, is slated for the performance. For additional
