A Silver Hawks name Rock graduate vice president


Lynn Kachmarik, a 1979 and 1980 Slippery Rock University graduate, has been named vice president and general manager of the South Bend [Ind.] Silver Hawks, a minor league baseball team owned by Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks.
            "She brings a wealth of experience in athletic administration, knowledge of our local community and an infectious enthusiasm that will make the Cove even more fun for fans and families in 2010," said Joe Kernan, team president.
            "I am very excited to be a part of the Silver Hawks organization," Kachmarik said. "Our goal is to make the Cove the place to be this spring and summer with increased energy, more opportunities to meet the team, dynamic family fun and an entertainment environment for all."
            Kachmarik received her undergraduate and master's degrees in physical education from SRU. She was an All American swimmer at SRU and was inducted into the Slippery Rock Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.
            Kachmarik was a member of the U.S. Women's National Water Polo Team for 12 years, including six as captain and was among the first group of women to be inducted into the U.S. Water Polo Hall of Fame in 2004.
            She joined the Silver Hawks from the South Bend/Mishawaka Convention and Visitors Bureau. She served as director of athletics and recreation at St. Mary's College from 1999-2008 and coached men's and women's water polo at Bucknell University prior to joining St. Mary's.
