'09 graduate wins Thanksgiving running competition
Jaime Wright, a 2009 Slippery Rock University graduate, showed that she had the right stuff when she won her third consecutive Hagerstown [Md.] Community College Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning.
Wright was faster than any other woman runner and finished the two-loop course in 18:23. More than 700 men and women competed in the event, which is a fundraiser for the community college's track program.
"I sensed I was in the lead and paced off the men around me to just run a fast, fun workout," said Wright, a communication graduate from Rocky Ridge, Md.
Wright ran cross country and participated in track and field at SRU. She was named All American cross country for Division II during her senior year and finished the season ranked 20th in the nation.
Her future plans are to pursue a master's degree in mass media arts and journalism at Clarion University.
