SRU's women's rugby club takes Midwest Championship
Slippery Rock University's women's rugby club, one of Campus Recreation's 26 sport clubs, won the Midwest Championship for the second consecutive year last weekend in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
The SRU team defeated Ball State University Saturday, 46-0, then came back Sunday to defeat Winona State, 27-24.
This was the first time the SRU team had been scored on during the entire season.
All of the club's 17 members who traveled to Iowa Falls played during the weekend.
To qualify for the Midwest Championship, the team won its fifth consecutive Allegheny Ruby Union championship earlier in the season.
The team will complete in the nationals during spring semester.
