Kiger named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honor

    Dana Kiger, an exercise science major and a women's soccer player at Slippery Rock University, was named to third team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors as voted on and released by the College Sports Information Directors of America last week.

    To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must possess a minimum grade-point average of 3.30 and have significant athletic credentials.

    Kiger, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, earned her first Academic All-District honor as a defender.

    A standout defender for The Rock, Kiger was named twice to All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division honors for her athletic ability.

    Kiger has started every game of her collegiate career and helped anchor a Rock defense this season that allowed just 15 goals in 18 games.

    Kiger has earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the PSAC in each of her first two seasons at SRU.

    The Rock women's soccer team closed its 14th consecutive winning season Saturday with a 10-5-3 record.
