OLD STONE HOUSE TO GIVE
UP THE GHOST OCT. 27-28
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –
Slippery Rock University will again sponsor Halloween ghost stories
at the Old Stone House, one of Butler County’s most
recognized landmarks, for two nights, Oct. 27-28 as a family
entertainment series.
Organized by Dr. David Dixon,
professor of history and curator of the SRU-owned facility
four-miles south of campus, the traditional event include a tour of
the facility with Halloween-appropriate stories told in the various
rooms. The tours will run 6 to 9:30 p.m. both
evenings.
The stories will be told by SRU
history and theater majors, including members of Phi Alpha Theta,
history honorary, as well as students from the Brookfield
Storytellers Guild at Brookfield (Ohio) Middle School, and students
from the Knoch High School history club.
Admission is free, but donations are
accepted. Opening night will include a two-hour live broadcast from
the landmark on WBUT in Butler.
The Old Stone House, built in
1822 and once a stage coach stop, is located at the intersection of
routes 8, 528 and 173.
