STUDENTS TO VIE FOR CHAD WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Eleven Slippery
Rock University music students will vie for top honors in the
annual Chad Williamson Memorial Scholarship Competition set for 7
p.m. Nov. 1 in SRU’s Swope Recital Hall.

Dana School of Music and Ashland University. Jones undertook

has studied voice with the Merola Opera Program at the San
Francisco Opera Center, the Young Artist Program of the Greater
Miami Opera Association, as well as work with the Curtis Institute
of Music in Philadelphia, the Chautauqua Opera Company and the
College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where
she earned her bachelor of music degree. She has performed
nationally, including work in New York City, Cincinnati, Des Moines
and San Francisco.

demonstrate their vocal talent and allows the local community to
both see and hear the performing arts talent of university voice
students. The scholarship was created by Mr. Williamson’s
family as a means of helping Slippery Rock University’s music
department attract talented vocal performers.

scholarship winners Glenna Marie Cypher, a junior vocal performance
major from Evans City, and Andrew Allison, a senior from
Georgetown. Their performances will not judged.
