SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  The art of France will be highlighted Nov 7-10 when Slippery Rock University marks “Focus on French Week” displaying the works of painter Michele Caillaud-Houel and sculptor Thierry Cayo in a salute to contemporary French artists.

The week opens with a display of the contemporary artists’ works in the lobby of Carruth Rizza Hall on Nov. 10-11, including a 4 p.m. reception and presentation by the artists in the Russell Wright Alumni House on Nov. 10.

The week will also include the showing of “Tanguy,” a recent French comedy at 4 p.m. Nov. 7 in Carruth Rizza, Room 212, with French crepes served. The artists’ works have been exhibited in numerous French galleries as well as in China and Morocco. An hour of French games will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 8 on the Bailey Library Quad, and SRU French majors will offer presentations on various aspects of the cultures of Francophone countries at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in Carruth Rizza, Room 203, including a French luncheon.

The week is sponsored by SRU’s modern languages and cultures department, the French Club, the Office of International Services,  the Title VI European Studies Grant, and the Office of the Dean of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts.
