SRU LEADING 16TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY DRIVE AS ‘PROJECT CHRISTMAS ELF’

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  Names of needy children in the Butler/Lawrence county area for “adoption” as part of Slippery Rock University’s Institute for Community, Service-Learning and Nonprofit Leadership’s “Project Christmas Elf” are available by calling 724-738-2273.

Names of needy children are provided by local Salvation Army operations in the respective counties. In addition to university departments, offices and campus organizations, individuals and community groups are also invited to participate by adopting a needy child for Christmas providing items from the child’s wish list.

Gifts will be gathered for delivery to the Salvation Army from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Russell Wright Alumni House.

The project was begun 16 years ago to help SRU mark the 100th anniversary of the university’s founding.
