SRU plans 'Movement Concepts' class for children age 3-5       


SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University will offer a free, on-campus movement activities program, "Moving Concepts," each Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Morrow Field House beginning Jan. 28. 

           The inclusive program is designed for children ages 3-5 with or without disabilities. 

           The program is rich in developmentally appropriate movement experiences centered on themes of body awareness, space awareness, effort, relationship to others, and the "Character Counts" program, emphasizing elements of cooperation intertwined with fundamental motor skills. 

           Teacher candidates in physical education, special education, early childhood education and elementary education enrolled in the University's "Movement Education" class provide the instruction. Interested parents should call 724.738.2789 for registration information.
