SRU's Robert Crafton earns EAPSU Faculty Member of Year honor   


SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Robert Crafton, Slippery Rock University assistant professor of English, has been named the Distinguished Faculty Member of the Year by the English Association of Pennsylvania State Universities.

           He was presented the award at the EAPSU Conference hosted at Shippensburg University, which as attended by representatives from all of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities.

           Crafton was chosen by a panel of his colleagues in recognition of his service as president of EAPSU and his commitment to the organization since holding the top position. Crafton served from 2003-07, and is credited with helping advance the organization's journal.

           As a member of EAPSU, he helped organize its annual conventions and its spring undergraduate English majors' conference that annually draws 50 to 100 students from across the state.

            Crafton, who joined the SRU faculty 1996, contributed a chapter to a book that has been chosen as the Peace Consortium's 2009 Peace Studies Book of the Year. He wrote Chapter 17, "Evaluating State Curriculum Standards: A Multicultural Perspective," for the "Social Justice, Peace, and Environmental Education."
