SRU Army ROTC Program commissions three at Dec. 19 ceremony
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Army ROTC Program will commission three second lieutenants at 2 p.m. Dec. 19 ceremonies in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall.
The commissioning will follow the 11 a.m. Dec. 19 commencement in Morrow Field House.
Being sworn in are Benjamin Ely, an environmental geoscience major from Butler; Rachel Markovich, a fine arts major from Slippery Rock; and Zachery Majzun, a finance major from Bethesda, Ohio.
The oath will be administered by Lt. Col. Patrick A. Callahan, of SRU's Army ROTC program.
Ely, will receive his bachelor of arts degree in environmental geosciences. He reports to Ft. Gordon, Ga., in May.
Markovitch, who earned her bachelor of fine arts with teaching certification and minored in political science and art history, will join the Medical Service Corps at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, in August.
Majzun, who earned his bachelor of science in finance with a minor in leadership, will be commissioned to the Corps of Engineers. An exact location or date has not been set.
