Co-Ed Magazine names SRU senior Miss Co-ed
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Shari Mazek, a senior at Slippery Rock University, has been named a Miss Co-Ed by the online magazine Co-Ed after she placed first and second in national modeling contests. The magazine posted several competition photographs of Mazek, an elementary and special education major from Pittsburgh.
Mazek won Miss Model America and was the runner up in the Miss Bikini America 2007 competition. Both events were recently staged in Monroeville and were open to women nationwide.
"Everything fell into place for me," Mazek said. "For Model America, I was in the back surrounded by all these pretty girls who had been going to school for modeling. I was just trying to go in there with the attitude that the experience is what counts."
Mazek, who also appears in a recent issue of Go Magazine, said she enters competitions because they encourage fitness and glamour.
"If I could get into professional modeling, I might go into that as a career," she said. "It's so much fun. It's like being a little kid, they take so many pictures of you."
Mazek plans to complete her student teaching next semester in Las Vegas. She joined SRU's chapters of the Blue Key Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi and a special education honorary and works as a lifeguard at the Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center.
