UNIVERSITY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR 3-DAY
WOMEN’S
NATIONAL WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. The Women's National Wheelchair Basketball
Tournament will be played at the Slippery Rock University Robert N.
Aebersold Student Recreation Center March 4-6. Volunteers are
needed to helpstage the event.
The
three-day tournament could see up to 125 competitors representing
12 teams from around the country.
Karen Perry,
Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, states the tournament will
run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
March 4-5 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 6. Tryouts for the U.S.
national team will be held March 7 from 8:30 a.m.
to 1 p.m.
Campus
organizations, student groups, individuals and members of the
community at-large are being asked to volunteer, Perry explains,
adding work for scorekeepers, statisticians, videographers, and
volunteers to assist players at registration and in related
activities is available.
"We
would also like to see organizations and other groups
'adopt-a-team' and show their support with banners, cheers or other
means of support," Perry explains, noting, while utilizing a
wheelchair, the participants are independent and capable
adults.
