SRU TO OFFER SEMINAR SERIES IN LONG-TERM CARE ADMINISTRATION AT WEXFORD

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University faculty and area professionals in the area of long-term care administration have combined efforts to offer a 120-hour core of knowledge for those involved in nursing home administrations. The sessions begin Feb. 18 at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township.

The 16-core course program under the banner "Educational Seminars in Long-Term Care Administration" will run 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through April 9. A similar program will be offered on the SRU campus next fall, with classes set to meet Aug. 12-through Oct. 1. All seminars are approved by the State Board of Nursing Home Administrators and SRU will issue a certificate of achievement following the competition of each course. A separate certificate will be offered those completing the entire program.

The program, similar to previous programs in nursing home administration offered by SRU, provides the knowledge core required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Home Administrators and for continuing education units and is part of SRU's Office of Continuing Education programming.

Tuition is $125 per seminar for $2,000 for the entire programs. Discounts are offered two or more persons attending the same seminar(s) from the same organization. The sessions will cover such topics as "Diseases of Aging," "Government's Role in Health," "Fiscal Management, Budgeting," "Personnel Management," "Third Party Reimbursement," "Preparing for Licensure," "Understanding Regulations, "Dietary Department," "Risk Management, " and other related topics.

For registration and workshop details call SRU's Office of Continuing Education at 724-738-1601.

The RLA located in Wexford is Pittsburgh's premier workforce development site. The project was conceived and spearheaded by SRU.
