SRU TO OFFER SEMINAR SERIES IN
LONG-TERM CARE ADMINISTRATION AT WEXFORD
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University faculty and area professionals
in the area of long-term care administration have combined efforts
to offer a 120-hour core of knowledge for those involved in nursing
home administrations. The sessions begin Feb. 18 at the Regional
Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township.
The
16-core course program under the banner "Educational Seminars in
Long-Term Care Administration" will run 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through April 9. A similar program
will be offered on the SRU campus next fall, with classes set to
meet Aug. 12-through Oct. 1. All seminars are approved by the State
Board of Nursing Home Administrators and SRU will issue a
certificate of achievement following the competition of each
course. A separate certificate will be offered those completing the
entire program.
The
program, similar to previous programs in nursing home
administration offered by SRU, provides the knowledge core required
by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Home Administrators and
for continuing education units and is part of SRU's Office of
Continuing Education programming.
Tuition
is $125 per seminar for $2,000 for the entire programs. Discounts
are offered two or more persons attending the same seminar(s) from
the same organization. The sessions will cover such topics as
"Diseases of Aging," "Government's Role in Health," "Fiscal
Management, Budgeting," "Personnel Management," "Third Party
Reimbursement," "Preparing for Licensure," "Understanding
Regulations, "Dietary Department," "Risk Management, " and other
related topics.
