Couples invited to plan their wedding plunge at Slippery Rock University
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - In the stomach-churning world of wedding planning, the details can often drive brides-to-be to tears. To help reduce the stress, Slippery Rock University is hosting its first "Wedding Showcase" 4 to 7 p.m. March 27. The event will promote the University as a wedding site and connect couples with local photographers, disc jockeys, bakers, florists and those selling or renting bridal gowns and tuxedos.
"Everything a bride and groom needs will be at their fingertips," Debbie Schell, SRU coordinator of union facilities and event services, said. "We're doing this to ease the process for couples and because more alumni want the University to be part of their big day. We've got five wedding receptions planned for this summer."
At least 13 vendors will be on hand in the University Union's Multi-Purpose Room to provide information about their services. There is no registration fee and the showcase will include several giveaways, including a night for two at the Applebutter Inn, Slippery Rock.
The showcase is open to Rock students, graduates and community couples. The University Union and AVI Foodservice, Inc., are sponsoring the showcase.
AVI Foodservice caters receptions at the Multi-Purpose Room, which can accommodate up to 400 people. For more information, call 724-738-2491.
