SRU's Gillespie joins on AP Human Geography Reading group
Carol Gillespie, an instructor in Slippery Rock University's geography, geology and the environment department, has been asked to serve as a question leader at the 2009 Advanced Placement Human Geography Reading conference in Lincoln, Neb.
Gillespie has been involved in the program since its 2001 inception.
"Although I have served as a leader in past years, this year's position as question leader requires compiling an accurate and comprehensive rubric for one of three, free-response questions and then training table leaders in the rubric so they can then train their readers," she said.
The position on the leadership team post was offered by David Lanegran, of Macalester College and Barbara Hildebrant. Both are AP program managers.
"AP Human Geography" is one of the newest and fastest-growing AP subjects in the nation," Gillespie said.
In addition to her SRU work, Gillespie has developed and teaches an online AP human geography course for the Pennsylvania Homeschooling Association.
