Former SRU student, now Miss Ohio-USA, has hopes for bigger crown
Slippery Rock University student Natasha Vivoda from Warren, Ohio, has hopes of being crowned Miss USA 2009 at the April 19 competition in Las Vegas.
Vivoda, who attended SRU from 2005-2008 as a biology major, was named Miss Ohio USA in November. She plans to eventually become a physical therapist and was featured on the front page of the December issue of Forum Health's employee newsletter Forumflash. Forum Health is a major hospital services provider in the Youngstown-Warren, Ohio, region.
Vivoda told Forumflash her disability - scar tissue on her vocal chords, which give her a raspy voice - drew her to helping others. She works as a behavior technician at Forum's Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital and is now an honors student at Youngstown State University.
The Miss USA competition will be broadcast on NBC.
