The 20th running of the Pittsburgh Marathon May 3 will include a large Slippery Rock University presence -more than 65 students and faculty members plan to participate.
Randy Nichols, SRU professor of physical education, said the departments of physical education and exercise and rehabilitative sciences have formed relay teams for the race, which begins at 7:30 a.m. Each team will run five or six miles.
"We're trying to represent the University in a healthy and fun way, but we're also trying to set an example for our majors," Nichols said.
Rock participants will wear gray T-shirts with a green, varsity S on the front and the words "The Rock runs the 'burg'" on the back, Nichols said.
