SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.� -Slippery Rock University will launch a major in criminology and criminal justice this fall following approval today from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education's board of governors. The new program includes an optional concentration in community corrections.

Frederick Douglass Institute at SRU Brings SIU Doctoral Student to Classroom

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Shanel Winfield, a doctoral student from Southern Illinois University, has plans to teach at a university and is taking advantage of a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Fredrick Douglass Institute summer program for minorities at Slippery Rock University to sharpen her classroom skills.

Local Leader, International Leader Selected for SRU Distinguished Alumni Honors

Taylor, Esq., chair and chief executive officer of Cameron Companies, LLC., community leader, Slippery Rock University Council of Trustees vice chair and 1978 graduate, has been name to receive Slippery Rock University's Distinguished Alumni Award for 2006, and Mohammad Nasib, multi-award winning managing director of the Welfare Association for the Development of Afghanistan and 1992 SRU graduate, has been named recipient of the University's first Distinguished International Alumni Award.

SRU Child Care Center Offering Summer Camps for Children

�SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University Child Care Center is offering Monday through Friday summer programs with half-day camps for children ages 3 to 5 and full-day camps for those ages 6-12.

SRU Theater Troupe to Present Play in Scotland

��SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University students will present seven productions of "Dark North," a play written by SRU theater Professor David Skeele, at the 60th Edinburgh [Scotland] Festival Fringe, the largest international arts festival in the world.
