SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Robert F. Downey, a lieutenant/commander with Allegheny County Police, has been named director and chief of University Police at Slippery Rock University.

Political satire group 'Capitol Steps' invades SRU Sept. 12

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Capitol Steps, the comedy group that pokes fun at Washington, D.C., culture and politicians, will perform a combination of songs and skits Sept. 12 in Slippery Rock University's Miller Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now for the 7:30 p.m. show, the first in the University's 2008-2009 Performing Art Series.

Slippery Rock University presents Skeele's 'The Margins'

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA - Following a successful run at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Slippery Rock University theatre department will present "The Margins," a new horror play written by David Skeele, SRU theatre professor, Monday and Tuesday in Miller Auditorium.

Slippery Rock University plans memorial service for David Dixon

�SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -� Slippery Rock University's history department will host a public memorial service for David Dixon, professor of history, at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 4. Dixon, who taught at SRU for 18 years, died July 16 while bicycling to Maine. He was 53.

SRU hosts seminar on business opportunites with defense agency

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Government Contracting Assistance Center will host a "Doing Business with the Defense Logistics Agency" seminar from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.

SRU physical therapy graduate receives national award

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Valerie Williams, a 2008 Slippery Rock University doctor of physical therapy graduate, has received the 2008 Mary McMillan Scholarship Award from the American Physical Therapy Association. The award recognizes physical therapy graduates who excelled during their final year in college.

Environmental center launches Critter Quest PA Web site

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Educational information about black bears, bald eagles, bog turtles and more than 400 other Pennsylvania "critters" is now a mouse click away. The Pennsylvania Center for Environmental Education, housed at Slippery Rock University, has launched Critter Quest PA, an interactive Web site (www.pcee.org).
