Good News: SRU adds new system to emergency alert strategies

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University and Metis Secure Solutions, LLC announced today they have entered into an agreement to install a state-of-the-art, location-based emergency notification system at the University.

SRU faculty form Middle East Studies Center to promote knowledge

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University faculty have teamed up to establish a Middle East Studies group to foster and enhance knowledge of the Middle East, including its past and current economic, social, historic, artistic cultural and political development.

SRU music department strikes chord with new women's choir

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University music department has apparently struck a chord with the campus and community. The department's newly formed SRU Women's Choir has already drawn more than 30 members.

Disability advocate Simi Linton lectures at SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Simi Linton, an award-winning author and one of America's foremost experts on disability and the arts, will lecture at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at Slippery Rock University's University Union. Linton is an advocate for increasing disability studies in curriculum and improving the way disability is represented and depicted in the arts.

SRU student group hosts Meet Our Elected Officials program

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Students Organizing for America is bringing State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-10th, State Sen. Mary Jo White, R-21st, and U.S. Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper, D-3rd, to campus to answer questions from students and discuss the importance of public service.
