SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Barrage, a high-octane fiddle-fest featuring an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance, comes to Slippery Rock University at 7:30 p.m. March 20.

The show, titled "Animado!," includes songs presented for presidents, prime ministers and princes around the world. The performance is the final segment of SRU's four-part 2009-10 Performing Arts Series.

The musical event offers a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and performance vitality. The music of Barrage continues to evolve by combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The young hip cast delivers the show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity.

Since its creation in Calgary, Canada, Barrage has been featured at events worldwide as well as on televisions networks, including PBS in the U.S., the BBC in the United Kingdom and CBS in Canada. Worldwide, the group has performed live shows in New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Norway, Monaco, the UK and the U.S.

The group has also performed for music students and their teachers, including concerts at MENC Conferences, the NYSSMA Winter Conference, the Texas Music Educators Association Conference, Ohio Music Educators Conference, International Workshops and recently at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago.

With more than 10 years in performances, the cast includes five violin players, a drummer, guitar player and bass player. The show is on the road more than 30 weeks each year.
