This year, 2,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Gold awards were granted to 245 entries and silver awards were presented to 216 entries.

SRU won a gold award for its poster series and a silver award for its 30 second, I Rock, television commercial. The University also earned three merit awards. One for a series of magazine ads touting, "It's a Great Time to be at Slippery Rock University," one for a direct marketing postcard campaign with the same theme, and one for the dance department newsletter.

Sandra Busch, publications manager, served as art director for the poster series, magazine ads and postcards. Bonnie Montgomery, artist illustrator, art directed the newsletter project, which was designed by Rebecca Book, a senior fine art major working in the department. Gordon Ovenshine, senior writer, served as project manager for the television commercial.

Judges for the competition consisted of a national panel of admissions marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Admissions Marketing Report.

"It's great to have our work recognized through this competition," Busch said. "Slippery Rock University has a great story to tell and everyone in the office works hard to make sure that its story is presented in the best and most creative light. We're all especially proud that one of our student designers was also recognized. She is graduating in May and this is great way to launch her professional job search."
