24 ‘EARTH DAY FESTIVAL’ INCLUDES EVENTS FOR CHILDREN,
ADULTS; PUBLIC INVITED
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. – Kite making and flying, art projects, food and a
host of hands-on educational activities for children in grades 4
through 6 headline the April 24 Earth Day Festival at Slippery Rock
University’s Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable
Systems Education and Research. This year’s theme is
“It’s a Kids’ Earth.”
Hours
are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Macoskey Center has hosted Earth Day
events for more than 10 years to increase awareness of
environmental issues. The Macoskey Center is located on Harmony
Road across from the SRU football stadium.
This year, the festival celebrates the environment through the eyes
of children. Festival features for adults include an
ecological art show, performances by local music groups, an apple
tree grafting workshop, information on environmental issues and
food.
The
Macoskey Center is an education and research facility that supports
Slippery Rock University's environmental and science-oriented
academic programs. The on-campus center occupies 83 acres and
serves as host to a variety of educational, research, and social
