ROCHESTER, N.Y., COUNCILMAN TO JOIN SRU
PANELFOR DISCUSSION OF EFFECTS OF HIP
HOP
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. – A panel, including Rochester, N.Y., Councilman
Adam McFadden, will discuss “Hip Hop and Its Effects on
Culture” in a 7 p.m. Tuesday [April 20] program that is part
of Slippery Rock University’s “Hip-Hop Week”
events.
The
session will be held in the University Union’s Multi-Purpose
Room with McFadden, Eva Nzingha-Moorhead, a slam poet and student
at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and Nkaiso Akpabio,
producer of the “Wake Up Show” on WAMO-106.7 FM radio,
along with SRU students from various organizations, will
participate in the panel.
The
program, sponsored by SRU’s Office of Intercultural Programs,
is designed to provide the campus community the opportunity to
engage in dialogue about the effects and influences hip-hop has on
modern society.
McFadden
was elected to council last November and has been long involved in
tracking cultural changes.
