SRU's women's tennis clinches PSAC playoff berth
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The 44th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team clinched a fifth straight trip to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament Saturday with an 8-1 win over visiting PSAC-Western Division rival Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The win gave SRU a 4-0 mark in division matches with only a Tuesday duel at eighth-ranked California University of Pennsylvania remaining on the Green and White's PSAC-West schedule. Thus, SRU is assured of a host role for an April 20 opening-round playoff match.
A win Tuesday at California would earn The Rock the PSAC-West title and a bye into the conference semifinals April 23 in Bloomsburg.
The Rock will compete in the conference playoffs for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons.
Matt Meredith is the team's coach.
