SRU senior dancers step into spotlight Saturday
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - "Oh, the Places We'll Go!" is the title for Saturday's Senior Synthesis Dance Concert by the Slippery Rock University dance department.
The performance will feature choreography by senior dance majors as well as Ursula Payne, SRU dance professor.
"This year's senior class is one of the strongest we have seen. Not only have they been artistically astute, but have also excelled academically. Two of the seniors have been accepted into prestigious master of fine arts in dance programs at The Ohio State University and Sarah Lawrence University, which is quite an accomplishment for dancers just about to receive their undergraduate degrees. These type of success stories are typical for this group of students," said Nora Ambrosio, professor of dance and department chair.
Students participating in the 5 p.m. performance are Kaitlyn Christensen from Rose Valley, Lynette Thimons from Brackenridge, Jennifer Meckley from Crosby, Roberta Ferrari from New Castle, Colleen McBee from Akron, Ohio, Julie Akerly from Harborcreek, Brittany Betts from Natrona Heights, Lisa Langhorst from Pittsburgh, Jean Rettig from East Palestine, Ohio, and Bailey Bretz from Hilliard, Ohio.
The 8 p.m. show includes Marissa Lang from Beaver, Jennifer Shuniak from Cassandra, Jackie Ross from Washington, Sarah Loeliger from Aliquippa, Tina Forder from Branchville, N.J., Kay Jones from Morris Plains, N.J., Lisa Bavisotto from Amherst, N.Y., Angela Rimmel from Naples Heights, Ohio, and Kristen Rozzo from Girard, Ohio.
Performances are at 5 and 8 p.m. in Swope Music Hall. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for students.
