Good News: U.S. Department of Defense hires '97 graduate for education post

U.S. Department of Defense hires '97 graduate for education post
Patrick Dworakowski, a 1997 Slippery Rock University graduate, Navy veteran and school superintendent, has been named associate director for education for the U.S. Department of Defense. He is third in command for schools that educate children at U.S. military basis worldwide.
"This organization fits my background as an educator and my interest in helping this country," Dworakowski told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Dworakowski, who received his bachelor's degree in special education from SRU, most recently served as superintendent of the Montour School District. Before that, he was principal of Montour High School and director of alternative education programs. Before joining Montour, he worked as the assistant principal of New Brighton Area High School and a special education teacher at Hopewell High School in Aliquippa.
He served seven years in the Navy, as an aircraft director, firefighter, aircraft firefighter and training coordinator.
After graduating from SRU, he received a master's degree in education administration from Franciscan University of Steunbenville and a doctor of education from Duquesne University.
