Rock ranked second in NCAA regional rankings

INDIANAPOLIS - The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team was ranked second in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll released by the NCAA men's soccer selection committee Tuesday.
    The Rock was ranked second in the poll behind Millersville and ahead of Charleston (W. Va.), California (Pa.), Mercyhurst and Wheeling Jesuit.
    The NCAA men's soccer selection committee will release a weekly regional poll for the remainder of the season, with the final poll set tor release  Nov. 3. Final selections for the NCAA Tournament will be unveiled in a selection show Nov. 9.
    Slippery Rock was ranked first in the initial NCAA Regional Rankings  last week, but slipped one spot to second after going 1-1 on the week with a loss at California (Pa.) and a win over West Chester.
            The Rock was ranked 21st in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll that also came out Tuesday.
            Slippery Rock stands atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western division with an overall record of 11-2 and a divisional record of 5-1. The Rock can clinch a PSAC playoff berth with a win in either of its final two PSAC-West contests.
            The PSAC-West regular season champion will host the PSAC playoffs this season.
The Rock will travel to Seton Hill today for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup.
