Co-workers applaud Kay Wolford's 45-years service at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Kay Wolford, a clerk stenographer III in Slippery Rock University's elementary education and early childhood department, received a standing ovation from some 350 co-workers Thursday when she was recognized for 45 years service to the University.
Wolford was presented an SRU lamp to mark her service as part of the annual staff luncheon. Nearly 70 service awards in all were presented.
The event was in the University Union Multi-Purpose Room event.
"I appreciate your commitment to making this University a special, caring and supportive place for our students," said Robert Smith, University president. "You play an integral role in supporting the educational mission of Slippery Rock University. The fine reputation of this University depends upon the quality of our employees and the level of service they provide. I am proud to say that we have outstanding employees doing outstanding work."
Smith also addressed plans and challenges for the coming year urging staff to continue their dedication and efforts on behalf of students.
In addition to Wolford's recognition, service pins and awards were presented in various service-year categories.
