SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s dance department will offer tap, creative, hip-hop and jazz classes for children ages 3-12 Saturdays Sept. 3-Nov. 19 at the McKay Education Building Dance Studio.

The classes, taught by an SRU dance graduate Leigh Puntureri and current dance major Jessica Krahe, are open to all children.

The focus is on teaching, exploring and learning. Participation does not require parents to purchase costumes. There will be informal studio showings at the end of each 11-week session.

The schedule:

         Creative dance for 3-4 year olds: 9:30-10 a.m., $50

         Creative dance for 5-6 year olds: 10:15-11 a.m., $60

         Tap and jazz for 7-12 year olds: 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., $70

         Hip-hop, tap and jazz for 9-12 year olds: 12:30-1:30 p.m., $70

Dance educators say participation promotes spatial awareness, cooperation, self-expression and communication skills. To register call the dance department at 724-738-2036.
