INDIVIDUAL TICKETS ON SALE FOR SHOWS AT SRU BY MARVIN HAMLISCH, CAPITOL STEPS,

NAI-NI CHEN DANCERS, JUNIE B. JONES EVENT

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Individual tickets are now on sale for upcoming appearances at Slippery Rock University by composer Marvin Hamlisch, political satirists Capitol Steps, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and a theater adaptation of the Junie B. Jones books.

Tickets may be purchased by going to www.sru.edu or calling 724-738-2091. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. at Miller Auditorium; Junie B. Jones starts at 7 p.m.

           Hamlisch, Capitol Steps and the Nai-Ni dancers are part of the new ING Performing Arts Series at SRU. The Junie B. Jones event is an additional event for families.

           Here is the line up and prices. Seniors are those 62 and older, children 17 or younger.

 Marvin Hamlisch on Dec. 1; $20 for adults, $18 for seniors/children; $7 for SRU students

          Hamlisch, renowned composer and conductor, will share his life’s story and music during a solo performance.  Principal pops conductor with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Hamlisch received a Pulitzer Prize for “A Chorus Line,” for which he wrote the music. He has also won three Oscars, four Grammy’s, four Emmys, one Tony and three Golden Globes.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Co.  on Jan. 20:  $12 for adults; $10 for seniors/children; $7 for SRU students

            Explore the captivating energy and air of mysticism created by the movement and choreography of the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company.  Nai-Ni Chen’s contemporary pieces, merged with traditional Asian art, have entertained audiences around the world.

Capitol Steps on April 1: $15 for adults; $12 for seniors/children; $7 for SRU students

This group of past and present congressional staffers uses song to satire political figures and events. They are non-partisan.

Junie B. Jones on May 19; $6 for all ages

Theatreworks USA’s production of the Junie B. Jones series of books by Barbara Parks takes the precocious Junie through a year in first grade. Clever design sets, assorted styles of original music, and spirited cast members are hallmarks of this production.

Packages still available

           Special packages reserving a seat to Hamlisch, Capitol Steps and the Nai-Ni Chen dancers are still available. Subscriptions are $40 for adults, $35 for those 62 and older or 17 and under and $18 for SRU students. Call 724-738-2091.
