This summer, the following changes will take place in Bailey Library while renovations occur. Some, but not all, of these conditions will be lifted for the fall semester. As construction continues, some conditions may change - they will be updated on this tab.
Bailey Library is on schedule to complete the major renovations done over the summer and fall semester. However, due to the extent of the renovations, we will not be able to have the building open for its usual 24-hour periods during final exam week.
Alternative study areas have been established. Students will be able to continue studying throughout the night in Spotts World Culture building from Sunday, December 10th through Wednesday, December 13th. The following SWC classrooms will be open: 100, 101, 102, 103, 105, 113, 115, 117, 118, 120, 217, and 219. In addition, the following student lounges will be available in SWC: 116, 209, 213, 216, 307, and 315. Some of the classrooms have computers available and there are vending machines in some of the student lounges.
The classrooms will need to be vacated by 6:00 a.m. to prepare for finals in the morning hours. An SRU campus police officer will be stationed in SWC to make rounds and assist in providing a safe and secure environment for students.
Beginning Sunday, August 27th, the restrooms on the 2nd & 3rd floors have been renovated and will be open. The 1st floor restrooms are not yet completed. Nearby buildings with functional restrooms include Eisenberg Classroom Building, Swope Music Hall, Vincent Science Hall, and the University Union.
Elevator use will be limited and restricted. Please stop by the ADA entrance desk, or any library service point, for additional questions and assistance.
Bailey Library's front entrance will be closed - it will open only after renovations are complete.
The library's new temporary entrance will be across from the Swope Music building.
The library's ADA entrance will be on the side of the library facing the Vincent building and the Smith Student Center. Please note that this entrance is only intended for use by those that truly need it - this will be strictly enforced during the duration of the renovations.
Study spaces have been reduced due to temporary relocation of library staff and services.
Please see our prepared chart for the location of additional study spaces and computer labs on campus.
