As a result, SRU is no longer accepting undergraduate students into the Athletic Training BS program. The SRU Class of 2020 will be the last cohort to graduate from the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree.
The application process for the athletic training graduate program for the 2019-2020 academic year is now open. Visit graduate admissions for further details about the application process.
The Slippery Rock University Athletic Training Program has received approval from the State System Board of Governors to transition the current undergraduate program to a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training beginning summer 2019. The final class of undergraduate students must be enrolled at Slippery Rock University by fall 2016, after which no additional undergraduate Athletic Training majors will be admitted.
If you are interested in a healthcare career in Athletic Training, choosing a related undergraduate major such as Exercise Science, Biology, Public Health, or Physical Activity and Fitness Management may serve as a foundation for the graduate Athletic Training program and help you fulfill your prerequisites.
All students successfully completing this program are eligible to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) examination. Additionally, athletic trainers must be registered in the state they practice. As regulations vary by state, please check the licensing board in your state.
