We offer two programs in Japan: Kansai Gaidai and Saga University. Kansai Gaidai is located between Kyoto and Osaka City. From there, there is easy access to tourist sites. You will be able to survive without using Japanese at Kansai Gaidai. Because of its location, there are many English speakers and English materials such as signs and brochures. If you want to see authentic Japanese life style, you may have to travel a bit. There is a good homestay program at Kansai Gaidai. The cost will be about the same as sharing a room with another international student in a dormitory. Finally, Kansai Gaidai offers a variety of courses in different fields taught in English.
Saga University is located in a rural area where you do not see many tourists. There are not many big tourist sites, and you need to travel to see those. However, you will get to see very authentic Japanese lifestyle in this area. You will need to use Japanese at Saga University. There is no semester-long homestay program here; rather students usually stay at a university dorm in a single/studio room for a very reasonable cost. Students may be able to arrange for a weekend homestay. Saga University offers some courses in English, but not as many as Kansai Gaidai.
