The Presidential Election and Middle East Challenges

The newly established Middle East Studies Center at SRU (MESRU) has organized a panel discussion on the Presidential Election and Middle East Challenges. The next US President will face ongoing and potentially new challenges in the Middle East over the next four years. MESRU decided to organize this panel in the run up to Election Day on November 4, 2008, in order to highlight the main issues and to spark discussion on how the two candidates for the presidency might approach these issues

Founder and president of the National Iranian American Council and an expert on U.S. - Iranian relations, Iranian politics, and the balance of power in the Middle East, Dr. Trita Parsi is the author of Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Iran, Israel and the United States, the silver medal winner of the 2008 Arthur Ross Book Award from the Council on Foreign Relations.
