Marketing majors study the dynamic process by which persons and organizations strive to anticipate and satisfy consumers’ needs and wants. In a free enterprise system, this is accomplished through marketing research, product planning, pricing, promotion, and distribution. The marketing student develops an understanding of the concepts, functions, and institutions of marketing, an appreciation of the consumer orientation, the skills to analyze and the ability to formulate marketing policies.
The marketing major gains written and verbal communication skills through class discussion, presentations, case analysis and research projects that develop critical thinking and analytical skills. Internships are available year-round in a variety of business settings; practical experience opportunities are highly recommended. Students are taught in quantitative methods and the behavioral sciences to solve marketing problems. Methods of instruction may range from programmed learning for simple vocabulary and concept formation to team participation in systems simulations. A dedicated core of faculty supports students through their excellent teaching skills and research efforts, ensuring a quality education for all our students. |
