Douglas Strahler is a full-time temporary instructor in the Department of Communication at Slippery Rock University. He earned his B.S. in Communication: Emerging Technology and Multimedia degree from Slippery Rock University and his M.S. in New Media from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University. He is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in Instructional Technology & Leadership from Duquesne University.
Strahler teaches in the areas of communication technologies and multimedia. As an alum of the department ('05), his academic and professional training are in the areas of graphic design, web design/development, web 2.0 technologies and social media. He is especially interested in researching the effects digital technologies have on our society and the adoption of Web 2.0 technologies in education.
He recently co-authored a chapter with Dr. Thomas Flynn, entitled “Transparency, Misrepresentation, and Social Media,” which was published in the 2013 edition of Regulating Social Media: Legal and Ethical Considerations edited by Gary Gumbert and Susan Drucker.
Strahler is also a member of the New York State Communication Association (NYSCA) and the Eastern Communication Association (ECA).
