Public relations helps an organization establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of important audiences. It is a term used to describe both a way of looking at an organization’s performance and a program of activities. The Bachelor of Science in Public Relations at SRU is designed to equip students with the knowledge, professional attitudes, and skills expected of beginning PR professionals. The successful public relations graduate has a solid knowledge of the issues, theory and practices of the public relations profession.
PR isn’t just about being able to write and speak effectively; it also incorporates graphic design and other electronic media technologies. Our majors graduate with a strong career awareness and proficiency in their career and job searching skills.
The program consists of 54 program credit hours:
- 18 credits of core communication courses
- 6 credits of message production and preparation courses
- 3 credits of organizational and team functions courses
- 3 credits of enhanced writing or marketing
- Internship
